On Wednesday, 25th February 2026, the District Chief Executive, Alhassan Ibrahim, led a high-powered delegation comprising the District Monitoring Team and key stakeholders on a comprehensive inspection tour of projects funded under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for the 2025 fiscal year and the DACF-Responsive Factor Grant (DACF-RFG).
The monitoring exercise forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and strict compliance with national guidelines that mandate Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies to prioritize investments in education, healthcare, and water infrastructure.
During the tour, the team inspected several education projects, including the construction of a 3-unit classroom block with office, staff common room, storeroom, and a 6-seater WC toilet at Aboaboso No. 2; a 6-unit classroom block with auxiliary facilities at Adukrom; a 2-unit Kindergarten block with office, toilet, and bathroom at Jerusalem; and a 3-unit classroom block with a 6-seater WC toilet at Tsimtsimhwe. These facilities are expected to reduce overcrowding and create a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
In the water and sanitation sector, the delegation assessed the drilling and mechanization of eight boreholes fitted with overhead tanks to improve access to potable water in communities such as Appeasuman, Old Subri, Osenso, Prato No. 1, Himanso, and Adukrom. The projects are aimed at addressing water challenges and promoting improved sanitation practices across the district.
The inspection also covered key healthcare projects, including the Phase II construction of a Health Centre at Daboase, which comprises male and female wards, a nurses’ station, dispensary, consultation room, staff washroom, and client washroom. The team further visited the construction site of a nurses’ quarters at Dompim and a new CHPS compound at Appeasuman, all intended to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve access to essential medical services.
Speaking to the media after the site visits, Hon. Alhassan Ibrahim expressed satisfaction with the overall progress of work but emphasized the need for contractors to strictly adhere to approved specifications and timelines. He stressed that government resources are limited and must be utilized prudently for the benefit of the people.
“These projects are not just physical structures; they represent our commitment to improving the living standards of our communities. We will not compromise on quality, and contractors will be held accountable to deliver according to contract,” he stated.
The DCE reiterated the Assembly’s resolve to ensure even development across the district and assured residents that monitoring would be a continuous exercise to guarantee value for money and compliance with contractual agreements. Community members who interacted with the team expressed appreciation for the Assembly’s proactive supervision, noting that the projects would significantly enhance access to quality education, healthcare, and clean water.
The Wassa East District Assembly continues to urge contractors to work diligently to complete all projects on schedule as preparations are underway to roll out additional developmental interventions in the coming months.
