One of the neighboring communities that have been affected by this dispute is the Koloku/Gumyoko Electoral Area in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region of Ghana, which according to the Assemblyman of the area, Joseph Anaba, four people have so far been killed in his electoral area.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr Anaba, however noted that calm has however been restored due to the curfew imposed on the area by the government.

The two term assemblyman further stated that, when he heard about the monthly allowances for assembly members by President John Dramani Mahama, he became very excited, adding that it will enable him to visit the communities so as to know what needs to be done for the residents.

He added that it is a bit difficult to sometimes visit these communities using his own funds.

He further disclosed that, he has lobbied for seven boreholes to be constructed for the communities from NGOs, adding that because some communities do not have light, they dug wells for them instead of mechanized boreholes.

He therefore called on the government to help resolve the Bawku conflict to bring calmness to the citizenry; and also in terms of development, they seem to be lagging behind.

As a predominantly farming community, Koloku Gumyoko needs dams around their farmland, stating that the stream they depend on to water their farms is miles away which makes it irrigation difficult.
