The outreach, organised by Mr. Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North, in collaboration with the Paediatric and Child Health Department of the Ho Teaching Hospital and the Volta Regional Branch of the Paediatric Society of Ghana, benefited 657 residents, comprising 321 males and 336 females.
The medical team provided a wide range of free healthcare services, including general medical consultations, dietetics and nutrition counselling, ear, nose and throat (ENT) care, eye and dental screening, psychological support, and physiotherapy.
As part of the exercise, participants were also educated on the importance of routine childhood immunisation, with special emphasis on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine as an effective preventive measure against cervical cancer.
Officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) also used the opportunity to register new members and renew expired memberships for residents. In all, 161 NHIS transactions were recorded, comprising 69 new registrations and 92 renewals.
All consultations, screenings and other related medical services were offered free of charge, ensuring that families in the community had access to specialist paediatric care without financial constraints.
Mr Agbana said the initiative formed part of his commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the constituency by bringing specialised medical services closer to underserved communities.
He noted that access to quality healthcare, particularly for children, remained one of his key priorities, stressing that no child should be denied medical care because of financial challenges or the distance to health facilities.
The Member of Parliament expressed gratitude to the team of specialists from the Ho Teaching Hospital, the Volta Regional Branch of the Paediatric Society of Ghana, the National Health Insurance Scheme, and all stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of the outreach programme.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with healthcare professionals and institutions to expand access to quality healthcare services and improve health outcomes for residents across the Ketu North Constituency.
