Tano South MCE Donates Medical Equipment to Bechem Government Hospital to Boost Healthcare Delivery

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano South Municipal Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, has officially handed over medical equipment to the Bechem Government Hospital in the Ahafo Region.

The donation is aimed at strengthening the hospitals capacity and improving the quality of healthcare delivery within the municipality.

The Medical Superintendent of the Bechem Government Hospital, Dr. David Kofi Twumasi, expressed his appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive and his entourage for their visit and generous support.

He emphasized that collaboration is essential for the growth and development of the health sector, adding that the partnership would significantly enhance the hospital’s operations and service delivery.

Dr. David Kofi Twumasi explained that the hospital serves as a major referral and surgical centre for the Ahafo region, resulting in a consistently high demand for healthcare services. He noted that Outpatient Department (OPD) attendance had increased from 1.5 per capita in the previous year to 1.8 in the current year, highlighting the need for additional resources to meet the growing demand.

He thanked all stakeholders for their continued support, and assured them that the donated equipment would be put to effective use to improve the healthcare service at the facility.

He further highlighted the government’s healthcare initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to making quality healthcare a key pillar of national development. He stated that the government's investments in healthcare infrastructure, improved access to quality medical services, and enhanced healthcare delivery continue to improve the well-being of citizens across the country.

Hon. Frimpong acknowledged the hospital’s existing infrastructure challenges and announced plans to construct a modern Outpatient Department (OPD) to enhance healthcare delivery in the municipality. . He further disclosed that the Assembly has made provision for the installation of ten streetlights to improve security and visibility within the hospital premises.

He urged the hospitals management and staff to take proper care of the donated equipment by ensuring that it is properly maintained and used efficiently. “By doing so, the equipment will continue to serve patients effectively and improve quality healthcare delivery in the municipality”, he stated.

The donated items included a patient monitor, an autoclave, and equipments for the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department, a mobile hospital bed, and other surgical instruments and medical supplies. The items were officially handed over to the hospital to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve patient care.
