British High Commissioner calls on Accra Mayor
The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, as part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations between her outfit and the city of Accra.

Discussions between the two leaders centered on establishing a sister city relationship between the City of London and Accra as well as issues of climate change and how both institutions could collaborate to achieve a common goal.
In an interaction, Her Excellency Thompson noted that, the relation between the city of Accra and the High Commission was an important one hence, the collaboration on several projects to mitigate the effects of climate change.
She pointed out that, the Commission was currently supporting the City towards the implementation of the Accra Climate Action Plan, “Breath Global Initiative” introduced by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan under the C40 cities Air Quality project.
She used the opportunity to also congratulate the new Mayor on her appointment as the first female to occupy the position.
The Mayor of Accra, who warmly welcomed the first female British High Commissioner to Ghana, also expressed her gratitude for the visit and stressed the need to continuously strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.
She appealed for support to undertake an analysis for a potential solar rooftop market and mandatory incorporation of solar rooftops for new and old buildings in the city.
The Mayor also called for assistance in the area of mobile libraries as the city prepares to host the World Book Capital in 2023.
