Police/Military beef-up security in Savannah Region

Clashes over a land dispute in Gbiniyiri on Sunday, August 24, left at least five people dead and six others injured, three of them critically.
A statement issued by the Police Public Affairs Directorate, said the Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, was personally leading a delegation from the National Police Headquarters to evaluate the security situation and engage traditional and community leaders.
It noted that the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces and other key stakeholders had intensified patrols and strategic deployments across affected areas to prevent further unrest.
Additional police personnel have been dispatched to support local law enforcement efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability.
“We urge all parties to remain calm and work with the security teams to ensure lasting peace in the area,” the statement said.
