NCCE Educates Bole Residents on Social Auditing and Accountability

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a public education programme for residents of the Savannah Region, including participants from the Bole Municipality, to enhance public understanding of social auditing and strengthen accountability in local governance.

The programme formed part of the Commission's efforts to empower citizens with the knowledge and skills needed to actively participate in monitoring the implementation of public projects and ensuring transparency in the use of public resources.

Facilitators explained that social auditing is an important tool that enables citizens to assess the performance of public institutions, monitor the execution of development projects, and demand accountability from duty bearers.

Participants were encouraged to take an active interest in community development by engaging local authorities, attending public meetings, and monitoring projects undertaken by the District Assembly to ensure they meet expected standards and benefit residents.

The NCCE emphasized that effective citizen participation is essential to promoting good governance, transparency, and responsive local administration. It noted that informed and engaged citizens play a critical role in ensuring public resources are used efficiently and development projects address the needs of communities.

Residents welcomed the initiative, describing the programme as timely and informative. They expressed their commitment to applying the knowledge gained to promote accountability and support development efforts within their communities.
