Dormaa Central MCE urges commercial drivers, motorists to observe traffic regulations

Commercial drivers and motorists have been urged to strictly observe road safety regulation to help stem the rising cases of crashes and fatalities on the highways.

The Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executives in the Bono Region Mr. Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, who gave advice, also cautioned the drivers against wrongful overtaking, speeding and overloading of their vehicles which were offences punishable by law.

He said it was necessary for the drivers to undertake routine checks and also ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles too.

Mr. Ameyaw gave the advice when addressing the congregation of the Jesus Saviour of the World Church at Dormaa-Ahenkro as part of his tour to the churches in the municipality.

He also sensitized the congregation on proper sanitation and effects of substance abuse, and cautioned the youth against the use and abuse of illicit drugs like RED 225, Indian Hemp and cocaine.

Mr Ameyaw noted that such unhealthy lifestyle influenced them to indulge in social vices like armed robbery, rape and defilement that would ruin their future.

He educated the people about cohabitation and the attendant repercussions, saying s survey conducted by the Ghana Health Service revealed that the Dormaa Central Municipality had a high rate of cohabitation.

Mr. Ameyaw urged families to check their children and wards against deviant behavior and pre-marital sexual practices.
