Speaking in an interview with GhanaDistricts.com after a recent demolition exercise at the REDCO slum area, Alhaji Fuseini reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to safeguarding state lands from encroachers.
He stressed that his office will not tolerate any acts that deprive the state of its rightful properties, adding that the assembly will continue to reclaim all illegally occupied lands for the collective good of the people.
According to the MCE, the municipality has witnessed an increasing trend of individuals unlawfully developing or fencing off lands that belong to the state.
He described the situation as unacceptable and detrimental to national development efforts, especially as such lands are often reserved for essential public infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and recreational facilities.
“The state lands within this municipality are meant to serve the broader interests of the community. No one has the right to take advantage of government property for personal gain,” he stated. “We will continue to enforce the law without fear or favor, and anyone found culpable will face the appropriate sanctions.”
Alhaji Fuseini also called on residents to cooperate with the assembly in its efforts to protect public lands, urging them to report any suspicious developments or encroachments. He further noted that the demolition exercise at REDCO was part of a broader strategy by the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly to sanitize the area, restore order, and pave the way for proper urban planning and development.
He assured the public that his administration remains committed to transparency and accountability in the management of government resources, emphasizing that the protection of state property is a shared responsibility.
“The government’s vision for a well-planned, sustainable municipality cannot be achieved if we allow a few individuals to unlawfully occupy and misuse state lands. My office will continue to take decisive action to ensure these lands are reclaimed and used for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” the MCE concluded.
