Asuogyaman Assembly Commissions Educational Projects at South Senchi and Tortibo

The Asuogyaman District Assembly in the Eastern Region, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Godwin Bobobee, has commissioned two major educational projects at South Senchi and Tortibo to improve learning conditions and support quality education delivery in the district.

The ceremonies were attended by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asuogyaman Constituency and Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, education officials from the Eastern Region and the district, government representatives and traditional leaders.

South Senchi Project

At South Senchi, the Assembly inaugurated a newly completed six-unit classroom block equipped with essential facilities to enhance teaching and learning.

The facility comprises:

Six modern classrooms

A seven-seater WC toilet facility

A Head Teacher’s Office with washroom

A Staff Common Room with washroom

A fully equipped Computer Laboratory

A Store Room

During the ceremony, Nana Gyan Oduro Dapaa II conferred the honorary title “Otumposie,” meaning “the vibrant one,” on Hon. Bobobee in recognition of his commitment to the development of Asuogyaman.

Hon. Bobobee also appealed for the construction of a new Senior High School and a University to serve the people of Akwamu.

Tortibo Project

Later in the day, the delegation moved to Tortibo, where a newly completed three-unit classroom block with an office and store room was commissioned.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu assured teachers that a new teachers’ quarters would be constructed in 2027 to improve their living and working conditions.

The Education Minister also highlighted President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for district development, noting that 80 per cent of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) had been allocated directly to Assemblies to accelerate local growth.

The commissioning of the two projects marks another step towards improving educational infrastructure and creating more conducive learning and teaching environments for pupils and teachers in the Asuogyaman District and the Eastern Region.
