The hearing, held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the National Mosque Conference Hall in Kanda, brought together representatives from the Ayawaso East, Ayawaso North, Korle Klottey and Ayawaso West Municipal Assemblies to discuss their budget proposals and planned development interventions.

Present at the hearing were the municipal chief executives of the participating assemblies: Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim of Ayawaso East, Hon. Haruna Mohammed Awal of Ayawaso North, Hon. Alfred Allotey-Gaisie of Korle Klottey, and Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah of Ayawaso West.

Traditional leaders, community chiefs, assembly members, stakeholders and representatives of the assemblies also attended, underscoring the importance of stakeholder participation in local governance and development planning.

The engagement gave the assemblies a platform to present and review their budget proposals, identify key development priorities and discuss strategies for effective resource allocation to meet community needs.

It also sought to strengthen financial planning, promote accountability and ensure that resources are directed toward development programmes and projects that respond to residents’ needs.

The budget hearing forms part of efforts to improve coordination among the RCC, the Ministry of Finance and the assemblies in preparing budgets that support sustainable development across the Greater Accra Region.

Through the exercise, the participating assemblies are expected to align their proposed expenditure and development plans with their priorities for 2027–2030 while promoting transparency and responsible use of public resources.
