The Kintampo Municipal economic activity can be described as purely agrarian. Majority of the people are engaged in agriculture and its related activities.
Yam is the main crop produced in the area and constitutes the main source of household income for the people. Other crops grown in the area are Maize, Cowpea, Cassava, Rice, Plantain, Egushie, Groundnut and Beans. Cashew, Mango, Tomatoes, Onions, Water Mellon, Garden eggs and Soya beans which have potential to increase the incomes of farmers. Kintampo Municipal is one (1) of the thirty-two (32) Districts identified as a potential District for where oil and Gas. exploration can be tapped
