Akatsi North Boosts Security: New Police Headquarters to Transform Law Enforcement
The Akatsi North District Police Command, established in 2016 to safeguard lives and property, continues to operate under tough conditions as it battles inadequate personnel and limited infrastructure. With a rapidly growing population and expanding communities, officers are stretched thin making effective law enforcement a daily challenge.

Only 19 Officers Serving Two Operational Zones
Currently, only nineteen (19) police officers are stationed across Dzalele and Ave-Dakpa, a figure far below what is needed to effectively handle crime prevention, patrols, and emergency response. The shortage puts significant pressure on the existing team, who must cover vast areas with limited manpower.
Poor Accommodation Slows Emergency Response
A major setback for the district command is the absence of decent office space and proper staff accommodation. Most officers are forced to live in rented rooms scattered across communities. This not only strains their personal welfare but also delays rapid response during critical emergencies, putting residents at risk.
Assembly Takes Bold Step With New Police Headquarters
In a bid to strengthen security operations, the District Assembly has embarked on the construction of a modern Police Headquarters. Once completed, the facility will offer improved office spaces, proper residential units for officers, and a well-equipped environment to enhance policing.
A New Era of Security for Akatsi North
District authorities say the new headquarters will help attract more police personnel, improve coordination, and boost community safety. Residents remain hopeful that this long-awaited development will mark the beginning of faster emergency response, safer neighborhoods, and a more visible police presence throughout Akatsi North.
