A highlight of the meeting was the detailed announcement concerning the construction of a state-of-the-art sports stadium at Ashaiman Roman Park.

This flagship project intends to deliver an ultra-modern facility capable of seating 3,000 spectators, featuring a regulation football pitch, tartan running tracks, and volleyball courts.

The projected cost for this ambitious development stands at approximately GHS 30 million. Notably, GHS 10 million has already been pledged as seed funding from the offices of both the MCE and the MP, signaling strong political will and financial backing to kick-start construction.

Speaking to the crowd, the MCE emphasized the transformative potential the stadium holds for Ashaiman’s youth and community at large. He outlined the project’s multifaceted objectives, which go beyond sports, highlighting job creation prospects and the role the new facility will play in raising the municipality’s sporting profile to new heights.

In addition to the stadium update, the assembly reviewed progress on several other critical Municipal projects. Attendees received reports on advancements in education infrastructure, healthcare delivery systems, and sanitation improvements.

Noteworthy among these was ongoing maintenance and development of road networks and drainage systems across Ashaiman, aimed at enhancing mobility and flood prevention, particularly during the rainy seasons.

The meeting served not only as a platform for updates but also as a forum for participatory governance and accountability. Residents actively engaged with assembly officials, posing questions and raising concerns, particularly about local safety issues.

Discussions revealed pressing challenges related to drug abuse and the vandalization of public properties, which have impacted community security and overall quality of life.

Officials stressed the vital need for strengthened cooperation between residents and security agencies to effectively combat these problems and safeguard public assets.

This third “Accounting-to-the-People” Town Hall Meeting marked yet another milestone in Ashaiman’s participatory governance journey, demonstrating the assembly’s dedication to inclusive planning, community-driven development, and fostering trust between local government and residents.

The new sports stadium project, in particular, stands poised to become a beacon of progress and youth empowerment in the Ashaiman municipality.
