The facility was commissioned in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Mohammed Bawah Braimah, and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Victor Asare Bampoe.

The MCE described the completion of the project as a demonstration of continuity in governance and a significant investment in improving healthcare access.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Rafiu expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the NHIA for selecting Ejura for the project.

He also commended the traditional council, led by Barima Osei Hwedie II, the Ejurahene, for releasing land for the project and supporting its implementation through to completion.

He said the facility, which has five offices and disability-friendly features, would provide a conducive working environment for staff and improve service delivery and comfort for clients.

Hon. Rafiu said good health was essential to development, noting that his administration had complemented the NHIS with other interventions to bring healthcare closer to residents.

These include the rollout of the Free Primary Healthcare (FPHC) initiative from Hiawonwu across the municipality to reduce out-of-pocket expenditure at the primary healthcare level.

The MCE noted that Ejura-Sekyedumase was predominantly an agricultural municipality, with many residents engaged in farming and other informal economic activities.

He therefore urged farmers, traders, drivers, students and other residents to register or renew their NHIS membership using their Ghana Cards, through the USSD code *929#, or at the newly commissioned office.

“No one should be denied healthcare because of money,” he said, urging the youth and women to become ambassadors of the NHIS in their communities.

The Chairman of the occasion, Barima Osei Hwedie II, the Ejurahene, also expressed appreciation to the President, the NHIA Chief Executive Officer, the MP and the MCE for the completion of the facility.

He, however, appealed to the President, through the NHIA Chief Executive Officer, to facilitate the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital project located opposite the new NHIA office to improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.
