The items distributed included hair dryers, sewing machines, and other essential tools aimed at supporting practical training and enhancing the learning experience of beneficiaries under the programme.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Bawa, underscored the Authority’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment through vocational skills training, entrepreneurship development, and job creation initiatives.

He noted that the programme is designed to equip young people with employable skills that will enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Addressing participants, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso East, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, described the exercise as a major milestone in the Assembly’s efforts to tackle youth unemployment and promote economic empowerment among the youth.

According to the MCE, the current beneficiaries represent the first phase of the programme within the constituency, adding that plans are already underway to train an additional 400 young people in the near future.

He emphasized the importance of practical skills acquisition in creating sustainable employment opportunities, stressing that technical and vocational training remains one of the most effective ways to reduce unemployment among the youth.

Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim further assured beneficiaries of the Assembly’s full support, encouraging them to remain committed, disciplined, and focused throughout the training period.

“The eyes of the constituency are on you. Your success will serve as motivation and inspiration for future beneficiaries of the programme,” he stated.

Also speaking at the event, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator for the National Apprenticeship Programme, Mr. Jones Klutse, disclosed that the government will fully sponsor the programme by paying allowances to Master Craft Persons, providing monthly stipends to apprentices, supplying learning and startup kits, and covering the cost of CTVET certification for trainees.

He further revealed that the national target for this year’s apprenticeship programme has been significantly increased to 100,000 trainees nationwide, demonstrating government’s strong commitment to youth development and skills training.

The beneficiaries, who were randomly selected from thousands of applicants, expressed appreciation to the government and the Assembly for the opportunity and pledged to make good use of the training and support provided.

At the completion of their apprenticeship training, graduates will also receive tools and equipment to support them in establishing their own businesses and becoming economically independent.

The initiative forms part of broader national efforts to empower the youth with practical skills, promote entrepreneurship, and create sustainable livelihoods across the country.
