The project, estimated at GH?4 million, is aimed at addressing the challenges associated with inadequate classroom space, which has affected the quality of teaching and learning in the area. Upon completion, the facility is expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve academic activities at the school.

Scheduled to be completed within one year, the project will comprise twelve classrooms, a computer laboratory, girls’ changing rooms, and other ancillary facilities. Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Dr. Ernest Norgbey reiterated the government’s commitment to providing adequate educational infrastructure to enhance quality education. He noted that the school’s limited facilities had necessitated the shift system, which the new project seeks to bring to an end.

The MP also highlighted other ongoing educational infrastructure projects in the municipality, including the Ashaiman Senior High School Assembly Hall and the E-Block project at Ashaiman Technical School, which is yet to be commissioned. He urged the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Freeman Tsekpo, to ensure effective monitoring of all government projects to guarantee their timely and successful completion.

In his remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive expressed gratitude to President H.E. John Dramani Mahama for the release of 80 percent of the District Assemblies Common Fund, amounting to GH?20 million, to support development initiatives in the Ashaiman Municipality. He assured residents of the Assembly’s commitment to using the funds responsibly to advance infrastructure development, particularly in the education sector.

The sod-cutting ceremony attracted Assembly Members, clergy, teachers, schoolchildren, media personnel, and members of the public, demonstrating strong community support for the project. The 12-unit classroom block is expected to play a crucial role in improving educational delivery and enhancing learning outcomes in Ashaiman.
