The humanitarian gesture brought joy and relief to women, children, the elderly, and other disadvantaged persons who gathered at Dulizugu in the Kumbungu District to receive portions of meat for the annual Islamic festival.
Eid-ul-Adha, widely known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant events on the Islamic calendar. The celebration commemorates the spirit of sacrifice and generosity, with Muslims traditionally slaughtering animals and sharing the meat with relatives, neighbors, and the less privileged.
For many families in rural communities, however, economic hardships often make it difficult to afford animals for the celebration. The intervention by the two organizations therefore ensured that many households could participate meaningfully in the festivities despite financial challenges.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Programs Manager of Africa Relief and Community Development Ghana, Yussif Ceaser Nuhu, said the initiative forms part of the organization’s annual humanitarian support package for vulnerable Muslim communities.
According to him, the partnership with Islamic Relief USA seeks to promote compassion, unity, and social inclusion during important religious celebrations.
“Our goal is to ensure that vulnerable families can also enjoy the blessings of Eid-ul-Adha. We believe no family should be excluded from the celebration because of poverty,” he stated.
Mr. Nuhu further explained that beyond providing food, the initiative strengthens community bonds and reinforces the values of sharing and solidarity that Eid-ul-Adha represents.
The Assembly Member for the Gupanarigu Electoral Area, Baba Iddrisu Niendoo, praised the donors for their continued support to vulnerable residents in the area.
He described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that it would significantly reduce the burden on struggling households while allowing beneficiaries to celebrate the festival with dignity and happiness.
Mr. Niendoo also called on other charitable organizations, corporate bodies, and individuals to emulate the gesture by extending support to deprived communities across the Northern Region.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the organizations, describing the donation as a lifeline during a period when many families are grappling with rising living costs.
The initiative highlights the critical role humanitarian organizations continue to play in supporting vulnerable populations and fostering social cohesion through community-centered interventions.
