The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Lawyer Kwasi Asante Boateng, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Millicent Amankwah Yeboah.
According to the MCE, the project is expected to be completed within six months and will comprise a three-unit classroom block, a six-seater water closet (WC) toilet facility, and a mechanised borehole.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Millicent Amankwah Yeboah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding educational infrastructure across the Sunyani West Municipality, noting that Boffourkrom remained a priority in the Assembly’s development agenda. The Municipal Director of Education (MDE) for Sunyani West, Rev. He raised concerns about the disparity in learning conditions between under-resourced schools and well-equipped institutions, noting that pupils from schools with inadequate facilities were expected to compete in national examinations with their counterparts who had access to better learning environments.
To address these challenges, Rev. Quartson pledged to engage the relevant authorities to secure the necessary equipment and teaching and learning materials for the new facility.
The ceremony also marked his first official field engagement since assuming office as the Municipal Director of Education.
Following the groundbreaking, Rev. Quartson interacted with staff of Boffourkrom SDA JHS and Boffourkrom M/A Primary School, urging them to demonstrate professionalism, promote teamwork, and prioritise the educational needs of pupils.
He cautioned teachers against unauthorised absenteeism and disclosed that he would undertake unannounced visits to schools to monitor attendance and ensure effective teaching and learning.
The Headmaster of Boffourkrom SDA JHS, Mr. Alex Agyapong, expressed appreciation to the visiting delegation for the project and commended Rev. Quartson for selecting Boffourkrom as the destination for his first official field engagement. He also wished the Municipal Director of Education a successful tenure in the municipality.
