The new facility, inaugurated by Madam Dana Mosora, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, is designed to enhance sustainable waste management and promote cleaner, healthier communities.

Madam Mosora said the initiative reflected the organisation’s vision of reducing plastic pollution through effective recycling and community engagement.

She said the Juaben plant was the Foundation’s third recycling facility in Ghana, complementing its existing operations in Accra.

“Our goal is to transform plastic waste into valuable raw materials that support local industries while protecting our environment,” she emphasised.

She said the Foundation planned to replicate similar recycling plants in the Western and Northern Regions, to decentralise waste management and create more employment opportunities for young people.

Mrs Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, the Juaben Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), commended the Foundation for choosing the Juaben as the site for the new plant, saying the project would not only promote sustainable waste management but also complement government initiatives, such as the National Sanitation Day exercise.

She said the plant’s operations were expected to inspire behavioral change among residents and businesses towards proper waste segregation and recycling.

Nana Owusu Yentumi, the Gyaasehene of Juaben Traditional Area, representing Daasebre Otuo Sereboe, the Paramount Chief of Juaben Traditional Area, lauded the initiative for its environmental and economic benefits.

He said the community looked forward to a cleaner environment and pledged traditional support for the success of the project.

He also encouraged workers at the facility to demonstrate discipline and commitment in advancing the Foundation’s mission of a sustainable, plastic-free Ghana.
