Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Hits 85% Water Coverage as Multi-Stakeholder Efforts Pay Off
Date Created : 5/12/2026 : Story Author : Mary Ayertey/Ghanadistricts.com
Water supply in the district is driven by key institutions including Ghana Water Company Limited and the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, alongside various non-governmental organizations working to expand access in underserved communities.
Currently, parts of Jukwa are served by Ghana Water Company Limited, while communities such as Mfoum, Hemang, Wawase, and Kwamoano benefit from Small Town Water Systems. In other areas, residents rely on mechanized and hand pump boreholes provided by NGOs.
Complementing these efforts is Forward Development, a private water provider that is actively supporting government interventions. The company currently delivers water services to 10 communities and has plans to expand into more underserved areas.
The combined efforts of these stakeholders have significantly improved access to potable water, reducing the burden on residents—especially women and children—and enhancing public health outcomes.
Despite the progress, authorities say there is still room for expansion to achieve universal access, with ongoing plans to extend water services to the remaining communities in the district.
