The beneficiary areas are the Atebubu/Amantin Municipality, Pru District and Sene West District. The programme is designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to residents while promoting early detection and treatment of diseases.

The Bono East Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr Kingsford Opoku Gyamfi, disclosed this at the Authority’s annual review meeting in Techiman.

He explained that the programme would focus on the early diagnosis and management of conditions including high blood pressure and glucose-related illnesses, with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) covering affected persons.

Under the initiative, NHIS clients are also expected to receive upfront payment arrangements to facilitate faster access to healthcare services. Beneficiaries only need to present identification, including their Ghana Card and NHIS card, when accessing services.

The programme is being implemented through CHPS compounds, health centres, polyclinics and selected facilities operated by the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG).

Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery in underserved communities and reducing barriers to accessing primary healthcare.

Mr Gyamfi urged stakeholders and residents to support the programme to ensure its sustainability and eventual expansion to other communities across the region.
