The presentation, which comprised 358 boxes of sanitary pads, forms part of efforts aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s broader initiative to improve menstrual hygiene management and address challenges affecting girls’ education.

The intervention is expected to improve schoolgirls’ access to essential menstrual hygiene products, promote their dignity and well-being, and help reduce difficulties associated with menstruation that may affect their regular attendance in school.

Access to sanitary pads remains an important aspect of creating a supportive learning environment for adolescent girls, particularly those who may struggle to afford these essential products.

Through the initiative, the West Akim Municipal Assembly seeks to contribute to efforts aimed at ensuring that menstruation does not become a barrier to girls’ education and participation in academic activities.

The sanitary pads will be distributed through the Municipal Education Directorate to public schools across the municipality, allowing the intended beneficiaries to access the support.

The initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between local authorities and education stakeholders in promoting menstrual health, protecting the well-being of schoolgirls and creating opportunities for every girl to pursue her education with dignity and confidence.
