TECHIMAN: Tipper truck accident claims 2 lives, injures others
Two (2) students from Cambridge College in Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region died on the spot, and three other people sustained various degrees of injuries when a tipper truck JFM with a registration number GE 9201-09 burst a front right tyre and run over them.

Two (2) students from Cambridge College in Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region died on the spot, and three other people sustained various degrees of injuries when a tipper truck JFM with a registration number GE 9201-09 burst a front right tyre and run over them.
The accident happened at about 2:45pm Tuesday afternoon.
Narrating the incident, the Municipal Motor Traffic Divisional Unit Commander for Techiman, ASP Andrew Kofi Okonengye said the driver of the truck Esson Joseph lose control when the tipper truck burst the tyre and run over the two students. Janet Donkor 20 years and Vida Bawale 18 years both died on the spot.
Also, Ambrose Bayeletere 19 years and a form two (2) student of the College severe injured and currently on admission at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman receiving treatment.
He added that the truck run over the dual carriage of the road and crossed bursting the back tyres and injuring two other people riding an unregistered haojin motor bike in the processed. The two were also injured and admitted to the same Holy Family Hospital. The two motor bike riders were identified as Issakaku Abdulai 26 years and Fuseini Soale 33 years.
As at the time of filing this report, one of the motor bike’s riders was discharged and the other was still on admission for further treatment. The MTTDU Commander said Ambrose Bayeleere who was on critical condition was transfer to the emergency surgical unit for further treatment.
The truck was travelling from Techiman to Buipe to discharge chippings when it bust its tyre and involved in the accident.
Commenting on the accident, the Commander said first quarter only this, there were a total of 59 reported cases from January to March 2014. A total of accidents 49 were commercial vehicles involved whiles 9 were private vehicles and 28 motor bikes.
Within the first quarter, the Municipality has already recorded 14 fatal cases, 19 serious cases and 26 minor cases.
Also, within the first quarter, total pedestrians knocked down stood at 16 with 16 killed. Out of the 16 killed, 11 were males above 18 years, 3 females below 18 years and 2 females above 18 years. Total number of persons injured was 37.
The MTTDU Commander advised both motorists and pedestrians to observed road safety regulations to avoid and reduce accidents.
