Named the Oheneyere Kyerewaa Fosuhene Kindergarten Block in memory of the town’s late queen mother, the facility is equipped with ancillary amenities to support early childhood education.
Strategically located within the premises of the Tikrom Basic School, the new block ensures the safety of young learners, who previously had to cross busy streets to attend kindergarten at the old site.
During the ceremony, Nana Awere II announced that two additional projects are underway for the community: a new palace and an ultra-modern community centre. He expressed his commitment to completing these projects as soon as possible, with support from philanthropists and citizens of Tikrom, both at home and abroad. The Chief appealed to benevolent individuals and corporate organisations to contribute toward their successful completion.
Nana Oti Awere acknowledged the immense support received from the Tikrom diaspora, particularly in the United Kingdom, in realising the kindergarten project. He called on all well-wishers to extend similar support—in cash or in kind—toward the construction of the palace and community centre.
The Headmaster of Tikrom Basic School, Mr. Victor Osei Boateng, highlighted the pressing need for furniture, which currently hampers effective teaching and learning. He appealed to the Municipal Assembly for urgent assistance.
In response, the Regional Minister, Hon. Frank Amoakohene, together with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Jerryne Asante, pledged the Assembly’s support to provide the required furniture and any other resources necessary to promote education in Tikrom and the wider municipality.
The event was chaired by Dr. Kofi Amoah, a native of Tikrom and son of the late queen mother, who donated GH?100,000.00 toward the ongoing projects. Other distinguished traditional leaders present included Oheneba Nana Sameasan, representative of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and Nana Yaa Asantewaa II, Queen Mother of Ejisu, who also made generous contributions.
