The meeting was convened to discuss and resolve concerns raised by some members of the Association regarding the ongoing construction of the 24Hour Market Project, a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing commerce in the region.

The meeting provided a platform for the leadership of the Traders Association to voice their concerns, and the MCE and his team took the opportunity to provide detailed explanations and assurances. Mr. Acquah expressed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the traders while ensuring the timely and successful completion of the market project, which is designed to boost local business operations and provide a more conducive environment for trade.

At the conclusion of the engagement, the Assembly was pleased to report that all concerns raised by the Traders Association were resolved to their satisfaction. The leadership of the Association, recognizing the broader benefits of the 24-Hour Market, assured the Assembly of their full support for the successful execution of the project. This partnership, the MCE emphasized, would be critical in achieving the long-term economic goals of the municipality.

In addition to discussing the 24-Hour Market Project, the meeting also served as an opportunity to update the Traders Association on the progress of the 96-Lockable stores project at the old Ajumako Station, another major infrastructure initiative within Mankessim.

The MCE briefed the Association on the positive outcome of the discussions held between the Assembly and the contractor. It was revealed that the contractor, who had previously paused work on the site, is expected to return and resume construction in the first week of February 2026. This project, once completed, will provide modern, secure storage spaces for traders in the region, further enhancing the business climate in Mankessim.

However, the meeting also brought to light an important development concerning the 96-Lockable Stores Project. The hoarding of the construction site is set to begin on Wednesday, 28th January 2026. As a result, traders currently operating around the project site will be required to vacate their locations in order to allow construction works to commence.

This is part of the necessary preparation for the next phase of the project, which is expected to have significant long-term benefits for local businesses.

In a joint effort with the leadership of the Traders Association, the MCE appealed to all affected traders to cooperate fully with the Assembly and the contractor to ensure the smooth and timely execution of the project. He reiterated that the success of these projects is not only vital for the Assembly but also for the traders and the entire Mfantseman municipality.

The collaboration between the Assembly and the Traders Association marks a positive step towards achieving the shared goal of a more developed and business-friendly Mankessim.

The Assembly remains committed to keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged as these important projects move forward. With the support of the Traders Association, the future of Mankessim’s trade and commerce looks set to thrive.
