The exercise forms part of preparations for an upcoming sod-cutting ceremony scheduled for 1st May 2026, to be led by the President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

Following a series of engagements between the Assembly and market women as well as store owners, affected traders have begun voluntarily removing their structures to facilitate the smooth execution of the project. Authorities report that the process has so far been peaceful, with no resistance recorded.

The District Security Committee (DISEC), together with the Divisional Chief, Nene Ofei Tagbadja, is expected to visit the site to assess the progress of the clearance exercise.

The situation at the market remains calm and is being closely monitored by relevant authorities as preparations continue toward the official launch of the project.
