This underdevelopment presents considerable obstacles to the community's overall well-being and growth.

In an interview with ghanadistricts.com, Awini Asaana Zakari, Assemblyman for the Galaka Electoral Area disclosed that, of the five communities under his jurisdiction, only Galaka has access to electricity. This lack of power in the other four communities, he stressed, creates a serious security risk, encouraging thieves who exploit the cover of darkness to commit crimes, and leaves residents vulnerable and increases the fear of nighttime criminal activities.

This, he said, creates an urgent need for improved infrastructure and safety measures to give residents confidence to also work at night.

He also said that the electoral area has issues with potable water, and since 80% are predominantly farmers, lack of access to water usually affects their produce.

He added that they only have boreholes and dams as their source of water and sometimes the water is inadequate for their needs.

In terms of security, the Assemblyman noted that since they share a border with Burkina Faso, mercenaries cross from Burkina Faso to their communities; disturbing the peace of the people there, attacking mostly their women and children.

He said they have therefore created a group called Night Watchdog committee who go around educating the residents on “see something, say something” in order for the mercenaries to be identified.

He also cited the challenges of spillage from Burkina Faso and its effect on their water bodies including pollution resulting in sicknesses. As such he called on the government to come to their aid.
