Atwima Mponua Begins New Era of Skills Development with Otaakrom Technical Training Centre
The Atwima Mponua District has taken a major step toward youth empowerment and industrial transformation following the successful sod-cutting ceremony for the establishment of the Otaakrom Technical Training Centre in collaboration with the Social Investment Fund.

The colourful ceremony attracted chiefs, residents of Otaakrom and surrounding communities, as well as key stakeholders in the education and technical training sectors, all united by a shared vision of advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) within the district.
Among the dignitaries present were Abass Nurudeen, representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Social Investment Fund, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of TVET Services, the District Director of Education for Atwima Mponua, and the Principal of the Otaakrom Technical Institute.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of skills development, youth empowerment, industrial growth, and technical education as essential tools for transforming the local economy and reducing unemployment among young people.
Addressing participants, Mr. Abass Nurudeen disclosed that the facility is expected to be completed within 18 months and would be equipped with modern state-of-the-art training equipment to provide practical and industry-relevant skills for students.
According to stakeholders, the project is expected to position the youth of Atwima Mponua for emerging industrial and employment opportunities while strengthening the district’s educational infrastructure.
The initiative has been described as more than just an infrastructure project, but a strategic investment in hope, innovation, entrepreneurship, and the creation of a highly skilled generation capable of driving the future development of the district and the country at large.
Residents and traditional leaders expressed excitement about the project and pledged their full support toward the successful completion and sustainability of the training centre.
