Mr. Neyram Satsi, Assembly Member for the Monome-Dzrakate Electoral Area in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has issued a final warning to Fulani herders operating in Agbaflome to remove their cattle from farmlands within 21 days or face possible legal action.

The directive, contained in a formal notice addressed to the Fulani leadership in Agbaflome, follows persistent complaints from farmers over the destruction of crops by roaming cattle despite several earlier warnings and engagements.

Mr. Satsi said the continued invasion of farms by cattle had caused extensive damage to crops, including coconut, cassava, maize, plantain, and rice, while also affecting nearby water bodies.

He noted that the situation had resulted in significant financial losses for farmers and heightened insecurity and tension within the community.

According to the notice, all cattle and their handlers must be removed from farmlands within the Monome-Dzrakate Electoral Area, particularly Agbaflome, within 21 days of receiving the directive. He further instructed that cattle should be kept completely away from cultivated lands with immediate effect.

The notice stated that failure to comply by June 1, 2026, would compel the community to pursue lawful measures to protect farms and livelihoods.

Mr. Satsi warned that any cattle found grazing on farms or destroying crops after the ultimatum would be considered to be causing unlawful damage to property.

He explained that the matter would be referred to the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), the Police, and other relevant authorities for investigation and possible prosecution.

“The community will not be held responsible for any consequences affecting cattle that continue to violate this directive,” the notice stated.

Mr. Satsi emphasised that the Monome-Dzrakate Electoral Area is not a designated grazing zone and that the continued intrusion of cattle onto farms would no longer be tolerated.

While reaffirming the community’s commitment to peace and harmonious coexistence, he stressed that residents could not continue to watch their farms and investments suffer repeated destruction.

He therefore urged the Fulani leadership to treat the notice with the seriousness it deserves and take immediate steps to avert further action.

The notice was endorsed by chiefs, elders, and youth leaders from the affected communities and copied to the Municipal Chief Executive, the Avenor Traditional Council, the Akatsi South Municipal Police Commander, the Akatsi South Municipal Zonal Council, and the Municipal Security Council.
