He said a contractor had been engaged for the project and was on site on September 14 to undertake a ground-truthing exercise in the two communities, an important step towards the commencement of work to extend electricity to the areas.

Mr. Sefe explained that the ground-truthing exercise, which involves verifying route alignments and assessing site conditions, would inform the technical planning and execution of the electrification works in Amenyokorfe and Bomigo.

“This is a significant development and a milestone in efforts to improve the living conditions of residents in the two communities. Access to electricity will open up opportunities for socio-economic activities that have previously been constrained by the lack of power supply in these communities,” he said.

Mr. Sefe said the extension of electricity to the communities would support small businesses, improve access to information and communication technology, enhance security and generally improve the quality of life of residents.

He expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the Government’s continued commitment to extending electricity to rural and underserved communities across the country under the Rural Electrification Project.

He also commended the Minister for Energy for the Ministry’s role in facilitating the project, as well as the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, for the regional coordination and support towards its implementation.

The MP further acknowledged Madam Seyram Sandra Kpedor, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Anloga, and the District Assembly for their support, which he said had contributed to the commencement of the ground-truthing exercise in the two communities.

He particularly thanked the chiefs and people of Amenyokorfe and Bomigo for their cooperation and patience over the years as they awaited the extension of the national electricity grid to their communities.

Mr. Sefe reaffirmed his commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders, including the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the Ministry of Energy and the District Assembly, to ensure that the project progressed smoothly to completion.

He said his office would continue to engage the beneficiary communities and keep residents informed as the project progressed from the ground-truthing stage to the installation of the electricity infrastructure.

Mr. Seth Satsi, a resident of the area, expressed optimism that the successful completion of the project would turn the long-standing aspirations of the people of Amenyokorfe and Bomigo for electricity into reality and further promote development within the Anloga Constituency.
