The presentation and distribution ceremony was held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the premises of the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly.

The desks were procured by the Assembly through the District Assemblies Common Fund to help address the shortage of furniture in schools across the district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah said the intervention was aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment for pupils and students while addressing the furniture deficit confronting some schools.

She explained that the 400 desks constituted the first batch of the furniture support, with a second batch expected to arrive within the next few weeks.

According to the DCE, Aduman Senior High School was identified as one of the institutions with a significant furniture need. As a result, 200 of the desks were allocated to the school, while the remaining 200 would be distributed among selected basic schools across the district.

Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah said the Assembly remained committed to improving educational infrastructure and ensuring that schools had the basic facilities required to support effective teaching and learning.

She appealed to beneficiary schools to take proper care of the furniture and ensure that the desks were well maintained so they could serve both current and future generations of students.

The DCE further assured schools that were not included in the current distribution that they would also be considered in subsequent interventions.

She recalled that the Assembly undertook a similar furniture distribution exercise in 2025, although some schools were unable to benefit at the time. She expressed confidence that by the end of her four-year tenure, a greater number of schools in the district would have received furniture support.

The Head of Monitoring and Supervision at the Afigya Kwabre South District Education Office, Mr. Francis Kumanim, who represented the District Education Director, commended the DCE and the Assembly for their continued investment in education.

Mr. Kumanim described furniture, particularly desks, as one of the major challenges facing schools and expressed appreciation to the Assembly for responding to the need.

He noted that the DCE had supported schools with furniture in the previous year and had once again demonstrated her commitment to education by providing additional desks in 2026.

He disclosed that 200 of the 400 desks would go to Aduman Senior High School, which is the only secondary school in the Afigya Kwabre South District, while the remaining 200 would be distributed among selected basic schools.
