NCCE Takes Civic Education Campaign to Students in Central Gonja Through Constitution Week Excursion

The Central Gonja District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised an educational excursion for members of the Civic Education Clubs of Buipe Senior High School and Queen of Peace Junior High School as part of activities marking the 2026 Constitution Week celebrations.

The initiative was aimed at deepening students’ understanding of Ghana’s democratic governance system, the Constitution, and their responsibilities as citizens.

During the excursion, students were taken through lessons on democratic values, human rights, civic participation, the rule of law, and the importance of protecting Ghana’s constitutional democracy.

The NCCE explained that engaging young people through practical learning experiences remains a key strategy in promoting active citizenship and ensuring that the next generation appreciates the principles upon which Ghana’s democracy is built.

The programme also provided an opportunity for students to interact with civic educators and broaden their knowledge beyond the classroom environment.

Officials of the Commission encouraged the students to become ambassadors of peace, tolerance, and responsible citizenship within their schools and communities.

The Constitution Week celebration forms part of the NCCE’s annual activities aimed at creating awareness about Ghana’s Constitution and encouraging citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in national development.

The Central Gonja District Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening civic education among young people as part of efforts to build an informed, responsible, and democratic society.
