The projects, executed in various communities, include a health facility at Nansu, a three-unit classroom block at Kpelema School for Life, renovated teachers’ bungalows and kitchens at Ayerumu Kpacheri, and mechanised boreholes at Pai Katanga, Adokope and Chamba Akura.

The MP and MCE also handed over Area Council office facilities at Asukawkaw and Tokuroano to improve local administration and bring public services closer to residents.

The projects form part of efforts to address critical infrastructure needs in the Municipality, particularly in healthcare, education, potable water supply and decentralised governance.

At Nansu, the newly completed health facility is expected to improve access to basic healthcare services and reduce the distance residents travel to seek medical attention.

The three-unit classroom block at Kpelema is expected to provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning, while the renovation of teachers’ bungalows and kitchens at Ayerumu Kpacheri is expected to improve accommodation conditions for teachers serving the community.

The mechanised boreholes at Pai Katanga, Adokope and Chamba Akura are expected to improve access to potable water and help address water challenges in the beneficiary communities.

The Area Council offices at Asukawkaw and Tokuroano are also expected to provide administrative spaces to support decentralised governance and facilitate service delivery at the local level.

Speaking during the handover ceremonies, Mr. Nketia said the Assembly remained committed to addressing the priority infrastructure needs of communities across the Municipality.

He urged the beneficiary communities to take ownership of the facilities and ensure their proper maintenance to prolong their lifespan and enable them to serve their intended purposes.

Mr. Djabab said sustainable development required collaboration among the Assembly, Parliament, traditional authorities, community members and other stakeholders.

He therefore encouraged residents to support the management and maintenance of the facilities, stressing that the sustainability of development projects depended largely on collective community ownership.

Nana Odam Gyamfi III, President of the Akroso Traditional Council, commended the MCE and MP for revamping the Area Council office at Asukawkaw.

He urged them to continue paying attention to the facility and ensure the welfare of officers stationed there for revenue mobilisation.

At the School for Life in Kpelema, the School Management Committee (SMC) Chairman, Mr. Wisdom Dunyo, thanked the MCE and MP for extending development support to the community.

He, however, appealed to the authorities to provide furniture for the school and extend electricity to the classroom block to enhance teaching and learning.

Madam Forgive Ntenyi, a resident of Nansu, said the health facility would reduce the long distances women in the community and surrounding areas had to travel to Pai Katanga to access healthcare services, particularly during pregnancy and for child weighing.

She said the facility would make healthcare more accessible to residents and reduce the difficulties associated with travelling to other communities for basic medical services.

Other beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Assembly and the MP for the projects and appealed for further interventions to address infrastructure gaps in their respective communities.
