The commissioning exercise, held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, was undertaken together with the Member of Parliament for Akatsi North Constituency, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, and the District Chief Executive, Bless Kodjo Katamani.

The projects commissioned include a 3-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Nudowukope, 4-unit pour-flush toilet facilities and boreholes at Afiadenyigba EP Basic School and Posmonu D/A Basic School, a 10-unit office complex for the Akatsi North District Health Directorate, as well as office accommodation with an ambulance bay for the Ghana National Ambulance Service.

Addressing participants during the ceremonies, Hon. James Gunu commended the contractors for delivering quality work on schedule, stressing that the performance of contractors directly reflects on government’s commitment to development and service delivery.

He further urged beneficiary communities and institutions to cultivate a strong maintenance culture to preserve the facilities for future generations.

Responding to an appeal by authorities of the Nudowukope school for staff accommodation, Hon. James Gunu pledged 100 bags of cement to support the construction of staff bungalows and encouraged the community to initiate the project while government complements their efforts later.

The commissioning ceremonies attracted Assembly Members, district education and health officials, traditional authorities, students, school heads, constituency executives, NDC party members, Assembly staff, and residents from various beneficiary communities.

The projects are expected to significantly improve access to education, sanitation, and healthcare services while contributing to socio-economic development in the district.
