The District Chief Executive, Joseph Appiah, performed the commissioning on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in a brief but impactful ceremony aimed at addressing potable water challenges across the district. The event formed part of government’s broader commitment to expanding access to safe drinking water in underserved communities.

The DCE was joined by the District Coordinating Director, heads of departments, Assembly Members, traditional leaders, party executives, and members of the media, reflecting strong collaboration among stakeholders in advancing grassroots development.

In his address, Hon. Appiah reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to equitable development, emphasizing that access to clean and safe water remains a critical priority for improving public health and reducing waterborne diseases. He noted that the intervention would greatly enhance the quality of life for residents while easing the burden on vulnerable groups.

He urged beneficiary communities to take collective responsibility for maintaining the boreholes to ensure their long-term sustainability. The DCE further encouraged local leaders and emerging water management committees to establish clear maintenance structures and safeguard the facilities against misuse and vandalism.

Residents were also educated on safe water handling practices, environmental sanitation, and the importance of protecting the surroundings of the boreholes from contamination to preserve water quality.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary communities, traditional leaders expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Assembly and government for responding to their longstanding water challenges. They pledged their commitment to safeguarding the facilities and ensuring responsible use for the benefit of present and future generations.

The ceremony concluded with the formal handing over of the boreholes to the communities. The intervention is expected to significantly reduce the burden on residents—especially women and children—who previously traveled long distances in search of water, while promoting healthier and more resilient communities across the district.
