The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district assembly is intensively promoting avenue to boost local employment through the implementation of some projects under Ghana Social Opportunity Project (GSOP).

At least 1,090 individuals resident in the district have so far been engaged who provided labour to carry-out such projects in the beneficiary communities.

In an address delivered by the DCE, Isaac Mumuni Dramani in a recent assembly meeting, he unveiled that the projects was typically labour intensive component under GSOP, thus it was necessary beneficiary communities supply their own labour in return for cash.

The projects involved the construction of roads and dug-outs belonging to the earmarked communities.

However, he said some beneficiaries were taking advantage of the opportunity created to rather abuse the system which is affecting the implementation of the project, hence advised them to desist from such attitudes.

He also tasked Assembly members within the electoral areas where such projects were ongoing to educate community members on the rationale behind the project, and then asked beneficiaries to exercise restraint with the payment system of their wages.
