Despite the heavy investment given to education in the Sawla-Tuna-kalba district, the standard of education in the area keep declining, as performance of the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) for the past two years is gradually getting worse.
More than half of the Sawla-Tuna Kalba district’s budget was invested in education over the years to give impetus for the promotion of quality education, nonetheless this has not yielded the desired results as records of the BECE results in two successive years is significantly waning.
Following this, the assembly in a recent meeting has resolved to embrace some revised measures to give a facelift to the falling standards of education in the area.
The DCE for the area, Isaac Mumuni Dramani in his address indicated that for a short term solution, the assembly will attract more teachers to the district by increasing the number of teachers to be sponsored and also review the sponsorship package for them.
Also the DCE has directed the Education Directorate to deepen its monitoring and supervision role so it could reduce teacher absenteeism in schools.
Mr Isaac Dramani therefore asked for a concerted effort by all stakeholders and rally behind the assembly to address this challenge in the educational front.
