BIRIM S:Nsunasa gets New CHPS compound

A new GH71, 753.22 Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) compound has been commissioned at Nsunasa in the Birim South District and handed over to the Health Directorate.

A new GH71, 753.22 Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) compound has been commissioned at Nsunasa in the Birim South District and handed over to the Health Directorate.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, District Chief Executive, Nana Baffuor Takyi indicated that provision of primary health care is very important to avoid needless deaths, and to ensure the citizens are in good health to contribute to socioeconomic development of the country.

According to him the assembly took the initiative as a measure to reducing maternal and infant mortality recorded as a result of lack of access to health facilities. The agenda he noted falls within the overall national agenda of improving maternal health in order to meet MDG 4&5.

Residents in the Nsunasa community had to travel long distances to access health facilities, hence this new CHPS compound will cater for minor health cases and residents would only have to travel to bigger facilities when they are referred or he the ailment is serious.
