Construction works on an information and communication technology (ICT) centre at Akim Achiase in the Birim South District in the Eastern Region is about 75 percent complete.

The centre which is being provided by government through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) is a positive step towards equipping students and interested members of the public with the requisite ICT skills to be able to excel in the job market.

By the time the project is completed, GIFEC would have achieved yet another stride in its quest to extending ICT centre to deprived communities to help bridge the gap in knowledge acquisition in this field.

Mr. Baffour Mensah-Takyi, District Chief Executive said he was hopeful the project would be fully completed and handed over by December, adding, the center is very important as it would provides alternative avenue for students after school. By this there would be no idle hand to engage in social vices.
