Assembly Members in the Birim South District in the Eastern Region will today Thursday 11 June, 2013 decide the fate of Nana Baffuor Takyi, who has been reappointed by President Mahama as the District Chief Executive.

Per the constitution of Ghana, the final say lies in the hands of the Assembly Members after the President has honored his obligation in accordance with Section 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Government Act 1993, Act 462.

A DCE is required by law to obtain two-third majority of valid votes cast to be confirmed and during these times most nominees have their back to the wall since it is not clear what informed decisions taken by assembly members. In areas where appointees are believed to have conducted themselves well, they still meet challenges being confirmed.

However, Nana Baffuor Takyi hopes his cordial working relationship with the assembly members will work in his favour as he waits for the outcome of the election.
