The Talensi District Assembly in the Upper East Region through the District Directorate of Education is to start distribution of one thousand (1000) classroom furniture to some selected basic schools in the district.

The dual desks supplied by the Ghana Education Service form part of measures to address logistical challenges in schools there by helping to improve upon the quality of education in the municipality.

The District Chief Executive for Talensi, Edward Awunnore said the Assembly attached great importance to education and as such will continue to partner with the education directorate to work hard towards improving the present standard.

In this regard, the DCE indicated that the assembly is also procuring another 1000 mono desks to help augment the number in the schools.

According to him, while some of the schools are in dire need furniture the situation in fairly good in others, hence the focus with regards to the current supply will be to those in serious need.

Mr. Awunnore advised the beneficiary schools to take good care of the furniture to ensure a longer lifespan.
