The Talensi Districts Assembly with support from the District Education Directorate and the chiefs and people of Tongo has established the first community senior high technical school at Tongo the district capital.

The school currently has over seventy (70) students offering various subjects including Business, General Art, General Science, Block work and Agriculture science.

Mr.Edward Awunnore, District Chief Executive for the Talensi District commended the educational directorate and the chiefs for their contributions and support for the successful establishment of the school.

However, he stated that, as a new school being financed by the district assembly, the school faces some challenges including infrastructure and logistics and called for support from corporate institutions and government to help the school to grow to satisfy the needs of the people. The 6-unit classroom block provided by the assembly may not be enough by the next academic year but assure that the assembly will continue to do its best to add more infrastructures to the existing one.

The DCE said stakeholders are working hard to register the school with the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) to give it that legitimacy to seat for their final examinations when the time is due.

The good news however is that government has also allocated one community senior high school to the district out of the 200 it promised to construct across the country.

Again the chiefs and opinion leaders in the district have helped in acquiring 51acres of land at Yameriga for the establishment of the school as soon as clearance is given from the government, the DCE announced. He said the relevant institutions are working seriously to acquire proper documentation and planning on the site before the time is due.
