Two dams in the Talensi District that play very important role in the agriculture, and economic undertakings of the people have been rehabilitated.

The dams, Kaare, Baare have both been expanded and desilted to increase their water storage capacity that will allow inhabitants in the area to depend on them throughout the year.

Edward Awunnore, District Chief Executive has indicated that work has fully been completed on the Kaare dam while Daare is still ongoing. He commended interventions by the Ghana Social Opportunity Project, financiers of the projects.

He said work on the dams became necessary to help the fight against climate change and agriculture activities in the district which is the main economic activities of people in the district.

Under the Ghana Social Opportunity Project, 4,485 economic trees have been planted in some selected areas in the district and also resulted in a number of residents getting jobs since the system only engages people from local communities for its projects. The seedlings the DCE noted are at advanced stages but needed adequate water to grow well and not die off.

The Kaare Dam is purposely aimed at achieving this, the DCE stated. The Daare Dam on the other hand is ensure irrigation farming all year round for the production of food crops, and for domestic use.
