TALENSI: DCE calls on youth to remain calm

District Chief Executive for Talensi District, Edward Awunuure has added his voice to the numerous calls for Ghanaian youth to remain calm while awaiting the verdict of the election petition case at the Supreme Court.

District Chief Executive for Talensi District, Edward Awunuure has added his voice to the numerous calls for Ghanaian youth to remain calm while awaiting the verdict of the election petition case at the Supreme Court.

Mr. Awunuure said creating confusion and indisciplined behavior in society are most often initiated by the youth and entreated the youth in the Talensi district to accept the outcome of the verdict of the Supreme Court in order to maintain the peace the country currently enjoys. The DCE was speaking on the sidelines of an Islamic prayer held at Pwalugu in remembrance of the Late President John Evans Attah Mills.

The prayer was organized as part of the first Anniversary celebration of the late president’s death. “I want to use this opportunity to advise all and sundry to emulate the life of the late president of the Republic of Ghana. Professor John Evans Attah Mills was a man of humility, a man of discipline, a man of tolerance in fact a father for all as he used to put it before Ghanaians’.

The mark that professor Mills made in this country can never be erased and we will continue to honor him. He was somebody who did not believe in vengeance no matter the level he was vilified he was ready to return good for bad, so I think that as youth there is need for us to emulate this”. Mr. Awunuure who also presented a cow to the Muslim community in the Talensi district for sacrifice in memory of the late president had this to say on the issue of education in the Muslim community in the district “We in the Talensi District have done a lot and will continue to do more as far as education is concern.

We intend sitting with the leadership of the Muslim community for them to prioritize their needs so that we can execute some of them for the year 2013 and some 2014. We know very well that the immediate needs of them in the communities has to do we with toilet facilities, urinary, schools and accommodation so we will be working in that direction trying to put up this facilities in the Islamic community in the district”.

The Talensi District Assembly also presented sixty bags of rice, thirty cartons of milk and eighteen boxes of sugar to the Muslims to help them go through a successful fasting period.
