The Talensi District Assembly is helping to improve infrastructure at the Tongo Health Centre with the construction of a theater and wards.

The two facilities which are considered very important to the day to day operations of the facility are being constructed through the district development facility (DDF).

District Chief Executive for the Talensi District, Edward Awunnore in an interview with ghanadistricts.com however disclosed that construction works on the male and female wards have been completed and handed over to management of the hospital while the theater is at advanced stage of completion. “Work is almost complete on the theater block, the contractor is at the roofing level and the assembly will ensure it provides whatever it takes for its early completion”, he stated.

In a related development, Mr. Awunnore disclosed of efforts at addressing challenges with health personnel at the facility and the district at large. He said the assembly has provided sponsorship package to a number of students from the district to nurses training colleges.

Upon completion, they will be bonded to serve in the district to augment the staff strength at the health facilities. According to him, the assembly is determined to give the health sector a facelift which therefore requires that more resources have to be pushed to provide the necessary needs.
