Two separate small town water systems co-financed by the community water and sanitation agency and the Talensi District Assembly for the people of Pwalugu and Duusi are ongoing in the benefiary communities.
The rocky nature of the Pwalugu Community made almost impossible for successful drilling of boreholes, but this did not deter authorities from finding alternative measures of addressing water challenges the people are faced with.
Chief Executive for the Talensi District, Edward Awunnore said mechanized boreholes are being drilled in a nearby community and underground pipes will be extended to an overhead water storage tank erected at the Pwalugu community. He added that 12 stand pipes have already been provided in selected areas in Pwalugu where residents can easily fetch water for use.
Duusi community is also benefiting from similar project where existing boreholes including soe new ones to be drilled are to be mechanized to ensure larger population in the area have access to potable water.
The DCE said efforts to provide water to these communities is long overdue adding thathopefully in the next 6 months residents in the two communities will no longer spend precious time travelling long distances in search of water.
