An ultra modern clinic to serve Datuko and surrounding communities is nearing completion at Datuko in the Talensi District in the Upper East.

The clinic currently at the roofing level is being financed through the Ghana Social Opportunity Project with support from the district assembly.

It comprise 12 rooms including 2 consulting rooms, a main ward with three other wards, 2 maternity clinic, pharmacy , stores and sanitary facilities.

District Chief Executive for Talensi, Edward Awunnore said the facility has come at the right time to replace the Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) compound which served the whole Eastern Zone in the district. According to him, the CHPS compound can no longer cope with the increasing demand of the people due to increased population hence a bigger health facility as the one under construction was just what they were looking for.

“This also attests to the importance and commitment government has attached to increasing health accessibility across all communities, and we as administrators of the district will make sure projects like this are carried out to their logical completion” he stated.

He said the facility will be well equipped to meet health needs of the people, adding that the assembly will continue to offer the necessary interventions in the health sector.
