ATEBUBU: World Vision suppots health delivery
World Vision International, WVI through the Atebubu Area Development Program, ADP has donated a number of medical equipment worth USD19, 000.00 to the Atebubu-Amantin district Assembly in support of health care delivery in the district.

World Vision International, WVI through the Atebubu Area Development Program, ADP has donated a number of medical equipment worth USD19, 000.00 to the Atebubu-Amantin district Assembly in support of health care delivery in the district.
According to sources from the Ghana Health Service the over 47 different items will enhance theatre, laboratory, ward, dressing and maternity services.
Making the presentation, the Senior Program Officer of the Atebubu ADP, Mr. Kwadwo Oppong Boateng Marfo underscored the mission vision and core values of his outfit.
He said the WVI receives such items which he described as Gifts-in-kind (GIK) from three support offices in Australia, Canada and the United States of America which constitutes 19.6% of the total income of the World Vision Ghana with the objective of making material resources available to complement cash budgets to support development.
“For the past decade GIK has come in various forms. This includes food supplies, relief for victims of disaster, clothing and footwear, wheelchairs, medical supplies such as drugs, educational materials such as books etc”. He added.
Mr. Oppong proposed a six man GIK committee whose basic task will be to ensure that items received go to benefit of the targeted end user for the benefit of society.
Mr. Jacob Acquah Andoh who represented the Minister of Health expressed the Ministers gratitude to the WVI for the gesture adding that this is complimentary to the ministries objective of replacing old equipments at health facilities throughout the country.
He said another priority of his ministry is the assignment of a community health nurse to each electoral area to work closely with assemblymen and opinion leaders to ensure that stakeholders are involved in health care delivery at the community level.
The District Director of health services Mrs. Joana Domitilla Debpuur enumerated the various supports that her outfit have received from the WVI over the years and promised to ensure an equitable distribution of the items to benefit the entire district.
Receiving the items the District Chief Executive Mr. Sampson Owusu Boateng recalled the various interventions made in the district by the WVI in the area of water, sanitation, food relief, credit to farmers, agriculture and education in the last 29 years adding that their activities have been very supportive of government.
He said in order to improve health care delivery in the district the Assembly intends to construct ten CHPS compounds by 2016 and sponsor some youth to enroll in health training institutions so that they can offer their services to the district on completion.
The DCE later handed over the items to the district health directorate for distribution with the hope that the items will be properly accounted for.
The WVI later made a similar donation worth USD 43,334.00 to the Ejura Sekyedumase municipal and the Sekyere Central districts at a ceremony in Ejura.
