Tↄgbi Tenge-Dzokoto-Gligui VI, Dufia of Anyako-Konu in the Keta District of the Volta region  and Fiaga of  Amugo/Wego (North Aŋlↄ Traditional Area), Mamaga Mieᶑoa∫e II and the Agbotaᶑuawo—Duatoklo and Blewu are 25 years, since their installation in September 1988.

Speaking at a durbar to launch the Silver Jubilee celebrations at Anyako, Tↄgbi Tenge-Dzokoto-Gligui noted that his tenure had witnessed a modest development of the Anyako-Konu town.

Tↄgbi said during his 25-years of stewardship as Dufia of Anyako-Konu, the bridge at the entry point of the town which had broken down had been repaired and a road constructed through the township.

Tↄgbi said he had also succeeded in getting the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education to assume responsibility for the payment of salaries of teachers of the only secondary school—the Awoamefia School— in the town.

He explained that prior to the assumption by government of that responsibility, one lawyer Fred Segbefia and, later, he, Tↄgbi, were personally responsible for the payment of the teachers’ salaries.

He said he was instrumental in the formation of the Nↄviha Association overseas and the re-establishment of a police station in the Anyako town with the full complement of a vehicle to run the station.

Tↄgbi disclosed that plans were far-advanced for the beginning of work on two major projects in the area, namely oil production and salt mining.

In an address delivered on his behalf, the Municipal Chief Executive for Keta, Mr Sylvester Tornyeava, underscored the importance of collaboration between the Municipal Assembly and Traditional Authorities.

Mr Tornyeava said this co-operation and collaboration was required for peace and unity, without which there would be no development in the area.

He congratulated Tↄgbi, Mamaga and their Agbotaᶑuawo and pledged the support of his office and the Assembly for a successful anniversary celebration.

The Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Richard Quarshigah, assured the people that important steps had been taken to resolve the acute water problem in the area.

Hon. Quarshigah said short and medium term measures were in place while in the long term, a national water project from Ghana to Togo, by which water would be extended to surrounding towns and villages, including Anyako and Seva, was in the offing.

In an address to launch the anniversary celebrations, Ambassador David Anaglate, former Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, stressed the need for high moral standards in society.

Ambassador Anaglate said the moral fiber of society was hinged on the three pillars of truthfulness, honesty and respect for the elders.

He called on the chiefs and people of the Aŋlↄ North Traditional Area to be loyal to Tↄgbi, while urging Tↄgbi to be a role model for the society.

In his remarks, a retired Justice of the High Court and chairman for the occasion, Mr Justce Michael Woanya, urged the citizens of Anyako-Konu and the chiefs and people of Aŋlↄ North to support Tↄgbi, Mamaga and the Agbotaᶑuawo for a successful anniversary.
